Early morning pick up from your hotel and then down to the port, where we will board a boat and head down the Rio Negro . Passing by the
skyline of Manaus, the guide will point out several interesting
public buildings,
industrial parks
and local neighborhoods. The first major attraction is the Meeting of
the Waters. We then
proceed to Janauari Park, here you will see Grand Victoria Water Lilies. After lunch, we board motorized canoes and explore the spectacular
tributaries of the Amazon River (known as Igarapé). Note that from
January to June, the Igapós or flooded forests are accessible.
Following the canoe excursion, you will be taught the secrets of piranha
fishing. Come nightfall, we paddle traditional canoes along the shore in
search of nocturnal wildlife. Small alligators, jacaré, are caught by hand and after a
few photos, they are released safely back to the water.
